Mission:
Prologue: To Boldly Go
Location: Holodeck 1
Timeline: Day 9 - after the crew board Fenrir
[PREVIOUSLY]
Stark looked across to S'Ralor, giving him a firm nod as he finally pulled his weapon and headed to the lift. Holo'Hadar were no picnic, but he was always eager to get his hands dirty. And at least it wasn't Borg. The Borg were the worst...and absolutely no fun whatsoever. Despite their leather club get up. He glanced to his colleague as they 'rode' the turbolift to get to the shuttle bay. He could literally stand behind him and be in perfect cover. "I'll take point..." he assured with that in mind.
[CONTINUED]
Aria watched them go, letting out a breath as she looked over at Daniel. She itched to go with, but her post was here. Here was where she belonged, at least for now. Even so, in the training exercise, she had to remind herself to let go and trust in everyone else on her team. Maybe it was just fear of failing, but she was tense as she stood there, not just from the battle scenario.
"Lieutenant Rice. Lets make sure they have no ship to go back to." Daniel told her. "Fire at will." He knew he was taking liberties dictating the way the fighting was being undertaken from the albeit holographic representation of the Captain but he had his reasons.
"Yes Sir, arming torpedoes," Aria said and put in the target. Cripple, destroy. It was a task she knew well, and she schematics of the enemy vessel meant she knew the best place to accomplish the task. She fired, her eyes narrowing slightly at explosion of light as the ship was taken down.
"Target destroyed, redirect fire to the second ship." Daniel ordered, he grinned widely as he watched the viewscreen image of the dominion ship coming apart in a violent explosion.
Aria laughed despite herself, nodding as she looked at it. "Okay, that was pretty satisfying..." she said and redirected fire...got a targeting solution...and fired again.
A lance of red energy flew from the Fenrir towards the second dominion vessel catching it just as it turned away exposing its ventral shields towards the federation ship, purple light crackled as the shields tried to contain the energy, another blast buckled the shielding slicing into the hull. The blast scorching a path down the starboard side of the bug ship, the starboard warp nacelle detaching in a violent explosion, the ship corkscrewed out of control for several long seconds before slowly regaining control. Slowly it righted itself, its impulse engines shining bright against the blackness of space as it sped straight towards the Fenrir.
Beon's eyes widened as he looked ahead. "It's coming right at us!" he called out.
Aria breathed harder at it, adrenaline rushing through her veins as she fired. "Shield's not going to withstand that impact."
"Helm, hard Z axis down, everyone hold on." Daniel called out, he'd judged the positioning of the dominion ship long before the others did, he knew it was going to deliberately ram them but had wanted to see if the others realised.
The ship moved to obey Daniel's orders, and Aria held onto her console with one hand, taking a deeper breath. The other hand was already moving to line up the commands to fire, deciding that if this was it for the ship, it was going to give as good as it got.
The attack ship flew past the Fenrir, missing its stern by mere feet despite vigorous attempts to correct its course. "Lieutenant." Daniel simply said.
"Aye, Sir," Aria breathed, not looking up, fingers already moving. She dragged targeting data into alignment with brisk, precise swipes, locking onto the damaged Dominion ship as it peeled back around. She could feel it...not just through the console's vibration or the low hum of power rerouting beneath her hands, but in her chest. In the pacing of it. The arc of the ship on screen, the burn of its impulse drive flaring brighter as it came back for them. She had been on the bridge, in this position, during battle before. This was different, like putting on a new pair of heels that pinched a little. "Target acquired. Firing torpedoes."
Two torpedoes launched in sequence, streaking out in bursts of gold and white. The enemy ship took them full-force to the underside with no shields left to catch them this time. Aria's eyes flicked across the tactical readout as it flared with damage indicators, seeing the results of it.
Hull breach.
Structural failure along the spine.
Warp core destabilising.
The explosion wasn’t clean. It rolled, ugly and slow, as if the ship was trying to hold itself together out of spite. Then the shockwave bloomed outward...silent in the void, brilliant on screen. The vessel cracked open like glass under pressure, silent in the vacuum of space. "Target destroyed," she confirmed, jaw tight with the adrenaline still bleeding through her system. She shifted her weight, planted her feet, and swept back a few stray strands of hair with the side of her wrist. "Looks like that was its last play." She glanced sideways to Daniel, voice wry but steady. "Guess someone owes me nibbles."
Though he didn't look back to her Daniel smiled. "Good shooting Lieutenant. Bridge to Stark what's your status?"
"Deck secured, Sir!" Stark's response was spattered with a couple of final phaser shots for good measure. He audibly caught his breath for a moment over the commlink. "Minimal casualties. We've even tagged some prisoners, they've already been beamed to the brig..."
Aria grinned at that, looking over at Daniel with warmth. "Now to me...that sounds like a bit of a success..."
"A success indeed." Daniel replied, though he was curious at the mention of prisoners, none of the Jem'Hadar he'd ever fought had become prisoners. "Double the guard on those prisoners, then come back to the bridge." He instructed.
It took a minute or two before Stark arrived, patting the back of his hand in a comradely fashion to S'Ralor's arm as they came out of the turbolift. "Ship secure, Sir," he assured firmly, but with a grin threatening, his dark eyes glinting with energy. "There was this epic firefight...you'd have been impressed, it looked totally cinematic. There was even an explosion...but the engineers have that under control."
"They gave us a good fight, especially their First." S'Ralor added, there was amber blood matted in the fur of his hands.
Aria looked at S'Ralor, smiling before her eyes softened at seeing the blood. But there was safeties...it would hopefully go away when the holodeck programme ended. "They did. But we did better, right."
Daniel stood from the Xo seat, it'd be embarrassing for him to end the program and immediately fall to the floor. "Well done, Computer end program." The holo representation of the Fenrir's bridge quickly dissolved into the black and green grid structure of the holodeck. "What did you think of our simulation?"
"It was...intense," Aria said and looked at Daniel, letting out a breath. She rolled her shoulders for a moment before stretching. Tension still had her in its grip and she moved her body to shake it out. "Really, really intense."
"You all blew it out of the water though...almost literally," Gabriel chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his neck as he made his way closer, his dark eyes still shimmering with energy from the fight.
Aria chuckled as she looked at him, before she gave a grin. "It was a lot of luck," she admitted and looked at Daniel. "Mostly luck, some training and a dash of panic."
"That was only a simple tactical scenario, the next one will be even more intense." Daniel told them. "You all missed the dominion war, seeing fleets of hundreds of ship all manoeuvring and firing, ships exploding all around you. That was intense."
Aria looked at Daniel for a moment before giving a nod. "Well...we may not have been there...but at least we passed the training scenario. Hopefully that can mean we stay alive, right?"
Gabriel nodded enthusiastically to Aria's assessment, looking to Commander Masters with curious, dark eyes. He couldn't tell if he agreed with her or not. He watched on with interest as to whether they would get the yay or nay from him.
"You've all done well." Daniel told them after noticing the anticipation in Gabriel's expression. "Your next assignment is.... to follow me to the bar."
